Roadside Safety

Occasionally, site conditions can hinder the normal application of roadside safety practices or devices. At the location seen here, the driveway is preventing the installation of the appropriate length of guardrail and of a crashworthy end terminal. Instead of relocating the driveway or designing a safe alternative, the bridge rail ends abruptly near the start of the bridge. The catastrophic results from a collision with such an unsafe design are clearly demonstrated in the subsequent photos. At Quality Forensic Engineering, LLC our engineers have many years of experience working with the design and application of roadside safety devices and can help you analyze any potential issues unique to your case.
